Poster made for commemoration of Charlotte Manye Maxeke in Evaton, south of Johannesburg. Charlotte Maxeke led the first demonstration against passes for women in 1919 in Kimberley. She was the first African woman to graduate university in the United States, and the first black woman social worker employed in Johannesburg. She was a founder of the ANC Women's League, and a key figure behind the establishment of the AME church in Southern Africa.
